How to print the leaf outlines
- Select a link above or a template image below to open the full-size PNG image.
- Use your browser’s print option, or save the image and open it in an image viewer.
- Choose portrait orientation and “fit to page” for US Letter or A4 paper. Check the preview before printing.
- Use plain paper for coloring or cardstock for a reusable stencil if your printer supports it.
These downloads are image files. For a smaller leaf, reduce the print scale. For several copies, duplicate the saved image in a document before printing.
Five leaf activities for kindergarten
- Count and match: place 1–5 large paper leaves beside matching number cards. Touch each leaf once while counting.
- Sort and explain: color leaves in different colors, then sort by color or shape. Ask, “Could we sort them another way?”
- Make a pattern: arrange red, yellow, red, yellow leaves. Name the repeating part and continue it.
- Trace and decorate: trace a simple outline, then add lines or torn-paper pieces. Offer a larger shape or a precut leaf when cutting is difficult.
- Tell a leaf story: draw a scene inside the leaf and let a child describe it. Write their words beneath the picture.
For a small group, choose one activity and model it first. At home, start with a few leaves and keep the session short. Supervise scissors and choose craft materials that cannot be swallowed.
